Using beta blockers for anxiety

Beta blockers are used for problems with high blood pressure. What I am wondering is, has anyone ever been proscribed them for anxiety? Did they work? And, how did you find coming off them? According to research, they are very affective for anxiety, though one of the health warnings says that coming off them can cause heart attacks. Do you, or anyone you know, have a story to tell?

I take a beta blocker to regulate my heart rate. My heart condition causes my heart to race and the beta blocker regulates the heart rate. I've never heard of it being prescribed to treat anxiety though.

I know somebody who was taking them for anxiety, and it worked well. He was worned that coming off them would make his heart rate race a little and feel a little like the anxiety was coming back. However, he felt no such effects. Everybodies different though. I guess the biggest problem with coming off such drugs is worrying about feeling crap, and therefore you make it worse and do feel crap. Good luck
